About the role

Do you want to participate in the full software lifecycle of applications, including requirements gathering, design, technical architecture, implementation, documentation, testing, deployment, support, maintenance and improvement?

We offer you the chance to join the multifaceted world of a financial services organization and to work within a dynamic team responsible for the development and support of tailored applications in the Quantitative Analytics space.

You bring new insights and can broaden our experience-base in emerging technologies and the latest software engineering trends. E.g., experience in cloud development, DevOps, developing for mobile devices etc.

This position is a maternity cover, but in Swiss Re our talents have a wide range of IT jobs available for further career development.

The main responsibilities of the position are:

  • Analyse requirements and design solutions in close partnership with our business
  • Produce high quality work, following standard methodology
  • Supporting colleagues using the platform on a technical and business level

About the team

With more than USD 150 bn of assets under management, Swiss Re Asset Management handles the assets generated through the core insurance and reinsurance business. The Quantitative Analytics team provides the pricing and analytics tools vital to run this business. We are extending our capabilities, to make our tools adaptable, on-demand, and to apply them to new business problems across the whole Swiss Re group.

Requirements

About You

We are looking for a passionate and experienced developer who has a strong background in user interface development and is seeking for exciting possibilities to apply their know-how in the financial world!

  • University degree in computer science (or equivalent).
  • Strong expertise in UI development and design
  • Experience in developing Angular applications (Typescript, HTML, CSS)
  • Cloud computing (Azure, Cloud Foundry, AWS or similar)
  • Working experience with Unix, Shell scripting (optional)
  • Experience with Python (optional)
  • Experience with NoSQL databases (MongoDB…) (optional)
  • Experience with Web-services (REST, WSDL, …) (optional)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • The ability to work with issue tracking, source control, testing and continuous integration tools
  • Good interpersonal skills with a flexible mentality
  • Good command of English
